The Museum of Man is a San Diego museum dedicated to the story of humankind. It is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Visit the museum at 1350 El Prado, Balboa Park in San Diego, California.
The building in which the exhibits of the Museum of Man are housed was built in 1915. The Spanish Colonial structure is known as the California Building. It was built by Bertram G. Goodhue to incorporate San Diego’s Hispanic heritage in the 1915 Exposition.
The Museum of Man store contains informational books regarding the museum’s exhibit topics as well as collectibles and gifts. The store is open during the museum’s hours daily. All profits from sales at the museum store go to the Museum of Man.
There are several restaurants located inside Balboa Park, where the museum is situated, such as Albert’s and the Safari Kitchen. There are also other museums and sites within the park. Guests who wish to stay overnight have countless options, given that the Museum of Man is located at the heart of San Diego with the famous San Diego zoo minutes away and the airport only a short drive away.
